About Mr. Kittel

Mark Kittel, P.E., specializes in in accident reconstruction, vehicle dynamics, and product failure analysis. His expertise encompasses a wide range of powersports and automotive systems, with a particular focus on motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, and UTVs.

Before joining Veritech, Mr. Kittel worked as a product development and test engineer at Honda R&D of America, where he gained extensive hands-on experience in the design, testing, and evaluation of powersports vehicles. His engineering background includes working with motorcycles, side-by-sides, personal watercraft (PWCs), snowmobiles, and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). This experience has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of vehicle performance, mechanical systems, rider active dynamics, and safety considerations from both a design and operational standpoint.

A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and former AMA pro-level road racer, Mr. Kittel combines technical expertise with first-hand knowledge of high-performance riding. He has years of competitive racing experience which have given him unique insight into motorcycle dynamics, traction limit behavior, braking, cornering, and rider control techniques—all critical factors in the reconstruction and analysis of motorcycle-related accidents. This combination of professional engineering skill and real-world racing experience allows Mr. Kittel to evaluate complex accidents as a highly qualified forensic engineer as well as from an expert rider’s perspective.

Forensic Engineering and Expert Testimony

Mr. Kittel leads investigations involving motorcycles, passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and pedestrian accidents. He routinely performs detailed analyses of vehicle motion, impact dynamics, collision severity, mechanical failures, and rider behavior, helping his clients determine the root causes of accidents or product failures.

As an expert witness, Mr. Kittel has been retained by both plaintiff and defense counsel in numerous state and federal cases throughout the United States and internationally. He has been qualified as an expert in mechanical engineering, accident reconstruction, forensic engineering, and failure analysis. His testimony is well-regarded for its clarity, technical accuracy, and foundation in scientific methodology and empirical data.

Mr. Kittel’s forensic work extends beyond litigation support. He contributes to vehicle testing, simulation analysis, and failure mode evaluations, applying advanced engineering tools such as computer modeling and photogrammetry to reconstruct incidents.

In addition to his casework, Mr. Kittel is a frequent presenter and technical consultant on topics related to motorcycle accident reconstruction, human factors, and product safety testing. His blend of engineering rigor, analytical skill, and passion for powersports makes him an invaluable asset to Veritech’s multidisciplinary forensic engineering team.
