PRESS RELEASE

Engineers at Veritech Consulting Engineering expand the firm’s competencies in the newest accident reconstruction technologies including Crash Data Retrieval analysis and Heavy Vehicle EDR use.

Castle Rock, CO – Veritech Consulting Engineering continues to stay on the forefront of technological advances in accident reconstruction techniques through ongoing training and certification programs. Two of the principal engineers at Veritech completed advanced data analysis courses in the fourth quarter to keep the firm on the leading edge of motor vehicle accident reconstruction technology.

“The technology of accident reconstruction is moving toward making maximum use of pre-accident data collected by the multiple onboard computerized systems that ensure correct vehicle operation including the specialized event data recorders that assist heavy truck drivers in safe driving,” said Mark Kittel, senior forensic engineer at Veritech. “The interpretation of the recorded data is not always obvious. It requires a deep understanding of the system’s limitations and idiosyncrasies. Veritech engineers continuously train in the latest methods for extraction, interpretation and handling of the data recorded by most common systems.”

Jeff Ball, Ph.D., P.E., is now a certified Crash Data Retrieval Specialist. He completed the CDR technician course as well as the CDR Data Analyst Course. The training was held at the Colorado State Patrol training facility in Denver, CO and was completed on 11-2-12. Dr. Ball is a principal engineer at Veritech, specializing in mechanical engineering design and motor vehicle accident reconstruction. Dr. Ball has analyzed and provided expert testimony for cases involving commercial vehicles, cars, motorcycles and trains.

David Danaher, P.E., completed the “Accessing and Interpreting Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders” course that was offered through SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). The training was held in Santa Barbara, CA and was completed 10-26-12. As a mechanical engineer, Mr. Danaher has extensive experience in the areas of vehicle accident reconstruction, product liability, patent review and analysis. His experience includes analysis of vehicle speeds, crush damage, crashworthiness, occupant compartment intrusion, restraint systems, driver reaction, time/space relationships and analysis.

Veritech congratulates Dr. Ball and Mr. Danaher on their continued achievements toward excellence.
